About the Event
The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad New York Corridor - or "Tubman Corridor'' - is an initiative of the Underground Railroad Consortium of New York (URCNYS) that will connect Underground Railroad sites including Underground Railroad Consortium of New York State sites and National Park Service Network to Freedom Sites, "Travel with Tubman" Sites - both Broderick Park and the Michigan Street Baptist Church are Network to Freedom sites.
These sites, among others, showcase the rich abolition heritage of New York State and can be combined into one cohesive heritage tourism experience. This project will also allow the city of Buffalo to identify and expand our Underground Railroad stories. URCNYS is in the initial planning stages of the Tubman Corridor and a public hearing will be held in Buffalo as part of the process. The public hearing will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 am at 136 Broadway - Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Headquarters. Please use the link below to learn more. This is a monumental moment in New York State history and compliments all of the work we have been doing in the Corridor and specifically with the Michigan Street Baptist Church.
